Project Himachal

“Instead of noblemen, let us have noble villages of men.”

–Henry David Thoreau

Sarvahitey is in the process of establishing a library in Bathad village with an initial set-up of 250 books. Through the library, as is with other states, where we are establishing one, Sarvahitey aims to cater to three different section of people. The primary focus of the library will be towards the students of Sr. Secondary School, Bathad. Sarvahitey has placed ample books in the library to fascinate as well as attract students towards extra-curricular reading and looking beyond academic books. The next focus group is the general public of the village who, though can read and write, but doesn’t spend its time in a productive manner, which includes, among other activities, the glorious habit of reading.

Sarvahitey has plans of setting up infrastructure for the population of Bathad Village to visit the library at least twice a week and develop a habit of regular reading, for the purposes of entertainment, personality development and initiate informative knowledge. productive manner, which includes, among other activities, the glorious habit of reading.

Alongwith the locals, both students (i.e. children) and the population of Bathad Village, Kullu,Sarvahitey also plans to target tourists and visitors. The project also proposes to place books of various languages, to attract and steal the attention of foreign nationals coming to Kullu to relax and spend quality time in the vicinity of nature, while surrounded by books, and, of course, vice versa. productive manner, which includes, among other activities, the glorious habit of reading.

Through this project, Sarvahitey also plans to promote tourism through a library in the village, which can, above all, also generate employment for the locals.

Sarvahitey, in furtherance of its plans to establish a foothold in Himachal Pradesh, for the purposes of social work, also aims to train a batch of locals, in groups of 10, to become tourist guides, who are adept in English language, specially spoken English, for the growth of trust between the foreigners and locals, in pursuit of raising employment, as well as tourism in the Kullu region. Having basic understanding of English will help the locals, i.e. the tourist guides, tap the market of foreign tourists and people coming from non-Hindi speaking regions of India who come to Himachal, thereby making the state and the region more attractive.

Sarvahitey has made arrangements with the locals, includinig the young adults of Kullu Region, whereby, two cleanliness drives will be conducted every month in the village, one by the students of Sr. Secondary School Bathad and another by local shopkeepers.

To have nature as a guarantor for a fulfilling vacation is as important to a geographical region, as is the region’s cleanliness. The sins of certain part of the population should not rob the others of a beautiful expectation of a leisure filled, well-earned vacation. In pursuance of a greater good, the aim of having our revered Safai Abhiyaan project at Himachal Pradesh, is to create awareness regarding the benefits of cleanliness, in addition to keeping the village clean as well as attract tourism.
